| Dog Obedience Training
(Because the Humane Society of Elkhart County did not get the minimum 6 dogs necessary to hold the Dog Obedience Class at their registration on Wednesday, April 25, it has been rescheduled to a later date. Please see the new announcement below): Dog Obedience Training The Humane Society of Elkhart County is offering Basic Clicker Obedience Training. The seven week course will be held every Wednesday evening from 6:30 8:00 pm starting May 16th at the Shelter barn (54678 County Road 19, Bristol, Indiana). Registration fee is $80 for an adopted dog and $100 for a non-adopted dog. Payment in full along with proof of rabies and kennel cough vaccines is required at the first night of class. A minimum of six dogs is required to hold the class. Contact Jena Shimkus at 875-0814 to register your dog for the course.
No insurance? Free care is available
The Pinellas County Human Services Department provides free medical care on evenings and weekends to residents of Pinellas County who don't have medical insurance. Services are provided on the county's Mobile Medical Unit at different sites throughout the county. Evening hours are 4 to 7:30 p.m. Services available to uninsured residents during evening visits include basic primary care, lab services and prescriptions. The staff can also provide referrals to dental, mental health and substance abuse treatment. Emergency services are not provided. Care is provided regardless of income or citizenship status. Zoo's Training Tools Similar To Those Of Pet Owners
PITTSBURGH -- WTAE Channel 4 Action News anchor Sally Wiggin was at the zoo this week watching trainers use the same tools on zoo animals that some might use to get their dog to sit. Slideshow Images The training is called operant conditioning and uses positive reinforcement. .
